Among the favorite reads of the Firefly team is Priya Parker’s The Art Of Gathering. As team event planners, we’re quite fond of gatherings ourselves, and we love her ideas about how to give meaning to group experiences. (Something to ponder: Are you just getting together to see who can eat the most hot dogs in one sitting, or is there some deeper purpose there???) Read more

No doubt over the next several weeks, your company will hold a sales meeting to share in the corporate successes of 2016 and discuss the best interest of your organization for the new year. Imagine, if you will, a scene in which your sales meeting is coupled with a charitable team building event! Suddenly your attendees are talking more than facts and figures; they’re actively engaged in a task that will transform the community you serve! Several options exist to make your upcoming meeting the best it’s ever been! Read more
Charity team building events are a phenomenal option for your corporate group. Make a positive impact in your local community while boosting employee engagement. No charity team building is more jam packed with kick awesomeness than our Future Heroes experience.
Gather your super squad to build kits for the bravest heroes we know – kids at local children’s hospitals battling chronic and life threatening illness. When a child receives a Future Super Hero kit they discover a sturdy shield they can customize with their own super insignia as well as a mask, bracers, and the top secret Super Hero Code (with plenty of super stickers of course).
How Do Super Hero Kits Help?
The hospital can be a scary place for children. Removed from their home and the majority of their friends and family, surrounded by strange machines – fun play can be hard to find. With a Future Super Hero kit kids fashion themselves the way they wish to be seen: strong, brave, and making a difference. They’re not sick anymore they ARE the Flash. They ARE Rey from Star Wars. Check out this Ted Talk on how even a simple posture change can dramatically improve your health . The power of pretend has significant effect on reality. Help us give these kids a fighting chance!
How Can We Book a Future Hero Team Building?
Our Future Super Hero kit builds are fully scalable for different group sizes. There is no limit to the impact your group can make! Last year we teamed up with hundreds of Microsoft employees and vendors for a 900 person mixer to build a mountain of super hero kits for the children at nearby CHOC. Large corporate groups love the kit builds because it’s easy for team members to travel down the assembly line constructing their personal donation. It’s fun to watch the amount of kits grow – a great visual demonstration of the effect a team can have by working together. We also have competitive versions of this event for the Sales and Marketing groups out there…
When working with corporate event meeting planners we hear about “wow” all the time. No matter what type of event you’re planning, you want the “wow” factor. Something your team will be talking about weeks later. As our team building events have often been used as that “wow” factor we keep our eyes out for other event surprises. Below you’ll find links to Los Angeles area vendors (mostly), but these event surprises can be produced around the world. Surprise your guests at your next corporate event with something breathtaking!
1. Water Graffiti
We admit it, we’re big fans of this art and it’s many forms. Whether you bring in an artist for a live demonstration, or get behind the spray can yourself with our Graffiti event you’re guests will enjoy the experience of seeing art created before their eyes. Worry about paint getting messy? Check out Antonin Fourneau’s water light graffiti- hundreds of LED lights activated by water to create temporary luminous designs. (this is not a Los Angeles vendor)
Neogov stepped up to the challenge in our newest Los Angeles team building event – Team Escape. Based on the concept of an escape room it features elements from escape rooms, scavenger hunts, and amazing race style challenges. In our version your team is racing to disarm our countdown clock with the correct code. They’ll have to divide and conquer if they want to win. Communication, cooperation, and ingenuity are key components of this adventure. Any team competing in today’s agile marketplace is familiar with all three. If you’d like to challenge your team with a unique team building adventure in Orange County, Los Angeles, or San Diego give us a call. This experience is mobile and can currently accommodate up to 6 teams. http://www.fireflyteamevents.com
During your next conference in Las Vegas make memories you don’t mind sharing outside the city. Las Vegas team building activities help your group experience the town, engage their competitive drive, and give back to the community, but most of all your co-workers will reconnect, engage and have fun. With the excitement of sin city at your doorstep, you should look for an experience that’s just as high energy as your surroundings in order to attract and keep the attention of your team. These ideas are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of options for Las Vegas team building, just like some of the local casinos, there’s no limit.
Your coworkers are likely very excited to be visiting Las Vegas as it’s been popularized in movies and TV shows for decades. Set them loose and let them explore. On a photo scavenger hunt they’ll run around the Strip in teams as they complete challenges. One challenge might have them walking like Egyptians under the Luxor pyramid, while another could require them to get a photo behind the bar at one of Vegas’s many lounges . Photo Scavenger hunts have the benefit of allowing your team to enjoy the sights and sounds of the tourist destination while working together to earn points. At the end of the program you’ll leave with a thick photo album of memories, or blackmail depending on your point of view.
Las Vegas is more than casinos and stage shows. Nestled in the Sierra Nevada Desert, the views are breathtaking. Minutes from the Strip lies the Red Rock Recreation Area. Get out and enjoy the outdoors while annihilating the competition. Team Olympics gives groups the chance to be more active, while not requiring any particularly impressive physical prowess. Furthermore the challenges in a Team Olympics aren’t traditional sporting events, but physical brain teasers requiring communication, strategy, leadership and teamwork. If you want to have a meaningful debrief with your team about group dynamics and how you work together this is the best event to facilitate that discussion.
If your company is looking to give back to the community, Las Vegas has several worthwhile local charities to partner with. Many of these events have the added benefit of being able to be conducted inside (in the A/C!) when temperatures get too hot outside. Make the most of your commitment to contribute with a fun event for your staff coupled with your donation. Enhance a Las Vegas bike build by having teams complete small challenges to win parts for the bicycle. When giving to a food bank we’ve had teams construct mini golf courses from the canned goods. Be creative and have fun. Celebrate the good fortune of your company by helping others. Who knows, the good karma that comes from it might reward you on the casino floor.
Whatever team building event you decide is best for your group keep in mind your surroundings. Las Vegas can extremely hot. We make sure to bring sunscreen and water to our outdoor events so make sure your team stays safe and goes home happy and healthy. A bicycle is more than just a toy in the life of a child. Every time the turn the handlebars they’re making a choice. Each press of the pedals gets them to their destination under their own power. Bikes can help kids feel empowered to be independent, fit, and motivated. HG Wells once said that for every adult he saw on a bike he had hope for the world. We like to say the putting kids on bikes gives up hope for the future. Gather your team and get ready for a transformative team experience for your coworkers and the kids that receive the bikes. Create a breathtaking experience for local children for your employee party. View Additional Details
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in team building usually refers to adding a charitable or environmental element to your event. The combination of CSR with team building can lead to community involvement, environmental stewardship and it shows the world what your company stands for. Studies have shown that employee retention is stronger when employees are allowed to devote a portion of their work week to volunteering. A great CSR event is energizing and inspiring and often leads to a more productive workforce. In 2014 Hewlett-Packard had 40,000 employees in 82 countries log more than 1.6 million volunteer hours. What will your impact be?
Need ideas? We LOVE partnering with companies that want to make a difference. We are constantly finding new ways to partner our clients and worthy causes. Our most common charitable team building events are the Charity Bike Build and the Care Package Assembly. These are common sights at Sales Conferences, quarterly meetings, and incentive trips here in Orange County. The beauty of either of these events is that there is always a need and we can complete an event in a couple of hours.
What if I want to do MORE? Your people are your biggest resource because of the skills, knowledge, and heart they bring to your organization. What if you could leverage that skill on behalf of a local charity? You probably have people dedicated to sales, marketing, and technical areas. Why not channel their talent to revitalize the processes, marketing materials, and website of a local charity? Instead of helping a few people, you lay the groundwork for exponential good. Charities often lack the funds or expertise to accomplish what your team could do in a single session. Charitable team building shouldn’t always be about donating it should also be about empowering, teaching, and inspiring. Our Help-A-Thon service is perfect for facilitating these types of interactions. Interested? Call us at 877.267.1939 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
